4 killed, 15 wounded in NPA harassments against AFP in North Central Mindanao

The New People’s Army in North Central Mindanao Region meets its forthcoming 45th anniversary this 29 March with military actions against enemy troops in various areas in the region. Four Armed Forces of the Philippines troops were killed while 15 were wounded in three military confrontations in different parts of the region last week.
20 March -- An NPA team under the Western Agusan Norte-Agusan Sur Sub-regional Command employed a command-detonated explosive against a convoy of four 6×6 trucks laden with 26th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and Scout Ranger troops at Km. 22, Side 2, Don Alejandro, San Luis, Agusan Sur, around 12:30 am. Two were killed while 15 were wounded, and a 6×6 truck was paralyzed. To conceal their casualties from the public, they sent their casualties directly to the 402nd Brigade headquarters in Awa, New Leyte, Prosperidad, Agusan Sur.
On the same day, an NPA squad harassed the (paramilitary) CAFGU detachment in Sangay, Buenavista, Agusan Norte.
15 March -- around 4:00 pm, an NPA team under the Eastern Misamis Oriental-Northeast Bukidnon Sub-regional Command harassed operating troops of the 58th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, in Libertad, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. Two enemy soldiers were killed.
These military actions form part of our response to the national call for the intensification of guerilla warfare to bring the people’s war to a higher stage in the next few years. This is also a response to the enemy’s intensified attacks on revolutionary forces in the region, to which it has deployed two additional battalions.
The NPA has once more proven that these intensified attacks on and encirclement of guerilla fronts will not restrict the NPA’s freedom of movement and have instead provided additional opportunities for the NPA to inflict more casualties on reactionary enemy troops.
